History and origins

Mastois are the descendants of Mir Chakar Khan Rind Baloch. There are different views; some historians are of the view that Mastoi tribe is an offshoot of Rind, the main Baloch tribe.
But few other writers and renowned historians opines that Mastoi is an independent Baloch tribe.

On the other hand there are few oral traditions which say that "Mero" and "Masti

" were brothers, Rind tribe is descendants of Mero and Mastoi are the descendants of "Masti" or Mir Masti Khan. While there is another oral tradition that during a tribal conflict forefathers of Mastoi fought with great bravery and chivalry and that's why they were given the title of Mast or Mast'an, which means in Balochi language brave, courageous and chivalrous. Therefore from onward as time passed that section of Baloch population came to be known as Mastoi.

Mir chakar Khan Rind united baloch tribes and took his finest army to fight Empror Sher Shah Suri on the edge of Multan to bar him entering into Balochistan.He defeated Sher Shah Suri and eventually died in 1665 in Satghara in Sahiwal District ,Punjab. His temple is located in Punajb. Rest of his army settled in parts of Punjab. Chief of Mastoi tribe who came with Mir chakar Khan Rind settled in near Dera Ghazi Khan.Huge population of Mastoi tribe scattered on the bank of river Indus starting from Punjab and reaching various parts of Sindh.
Sardar Mitha Khan Mastoi,was first who came to Sindh from Balochistan with his tribesmen,near Larkana city.From there this tribe started to migrate to different parts of the Sindh and other parts of Punjab.
