Born as Martin Wesley Cole, Wesley started his career on the offshore radio station Radio Essex (using the name Mark West) in the 1960s, but is best remembered working at Radio Luxembourg

 throughout the 1970's. He joined Luxembourg in May 1971 and was on the station for more than a decade. It was Wesley who announced the death of Elvis Presley
