Marie Antoinette Petersén, who was married to a wealthy merchant, was known as a non professional musician and singer. In 1801, she was elected as a member in to the Swedish Royal Academy of Music, together with the sisters Sophia and Emile Brandel. She was the last non professional female artist to be elected. After her election, no woman was elected until 1817.
