. Operated by Thailand's largest movie-theater chain, Major Cineplex
, it has a 14-screen multiplex cinema, a 38-lane bowling alley, karaoke rooms, restaurants and shops.
Opened in 1998, Major Ratchayothin housed the first IMAX
cinema in Thailand. In 2006, the IMAX facility was moved to Siam Paragon
. A new IMAX Digital Theatre opened at Major Ratchayothin in 2010. Ratchayothin remains the flagship of the Major Cineplex brand theaters though the company has a new flagship brand, the Esplanade Cineplex, which opened in December 2006 at the Esplanade complex at Ratchadaphisek Road.

The bomb exploded sometime afterwards, causing a blackout in the cineplex's retail area. There were no casualties or injuries.
