Mármol became a fixture in the center of the defense starting eleven matches and scoring one goal for the Spanish side. At the conclusion of the 2007 season, Mármol was invited for a pre season try-outs with Coventry City FC, Reading FC and AFC Bournemouth.

Mármol signed with Chicago Fire on 29 April 2008, ending a three-month long saga that saw Mármol train with New York Red Bulls for two months before eventually joining the Fire and agreeing to terms.

Mármol made his debut for Fire on 1 July 2008, in a US Open Cup third round game against Cleveland City Stars
