. It became a part of Tübingen in 1934. Its present population is around 10,000 and the area is 1.43 km² and is the largest subdivision in Tübingen.

History

The area was an Allemanic settlement. The area was excavated in the 1960s.

Lustnau was founded in 1100 and was called Lustnow.

The agriculture and winery functioned as the main source of income of the village in the Middle Ages

Industry boomed during and after the First World War

, however the number of wineries and farms declined.

In 1934, the year of its incorporation into the city of Tübingen, Lustnau's population was around 3,500.

Events

Every two years, the Dorfrally festival takes place. The festival is for children and young people. There are also flea markets twice a year. The taken money is given to the kindergarten. A main part of Lustnau's culture is the local sports club, TSV Lustnau ev. The club consists of various divisions, such as the football, tennis, gymnastics, and table tennis divisions. Football matches of various age groups as well as of the active team take place on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Other

The local newspaper is the Lustnau Aktuell which is mainly about the associations. It's published monthly and delivered free of charge.
