, Myers earned a bachelor's and a law degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He practiced law for several years in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles. From 1913-23 he was a Superior Court judge in Los Angeles. In 1923 he was appointed to the Supreme Court of California

 to fill a vacancy; the next year he was appointed Chief Justice and served as such until leaving the court in January 1926.

Following his tenure as Chief Justice, Myers joined a Los Angeles law firm run by Henry W. O'Melveny. Myers' name was added to the firm, which eventually became known as O’Melveny & Myers.

He married Blanche Brown of Michigan; they had at least two children, Elizabeth Myers and test pilot John Wescott Myers.
