Lorenzo Langford is the mayor of Atlantic City, New Jersey. He is Atlantic City's second African American mayor. Langford was educated in the Atlantic City public school system and graduated from Atlantic City High School, Class of 1997. He first went to Atlantic Community College and then to North Carolina Central University where he earned a B.S. Degree in Business Administration.
In 1992, Mr. Langford ran for the office of City Councilman and defeated the incumbent Council President.

Lorenzo Langford is the mayor of Atlantic City, New Jersey. He is Atlantic City's second African American mayor. Langford was educated in the Atlantic City public school system and graduated from Atlantic City High School, Class of 1997. He first went to Atlantic Community College and then to North Carolina Central University where he earned a B.S. Degree in Business Administration.
In 1992, Mr. Langford ran for the office of City Councilman and defeated the incumbent Council President. Mr. Langford in an upset and was re-elected twice to represent Atlantic City’s Fourth Ward. On November 6, 2001, Mr. Langford was elected Mayor defeating the incumbent mayor Jim Whelan 56% to 43%. He was defeated for a second term in the 2005 primary by Bob Levy. In the special election mayoral primary in June 2008 he defeated incumbent mayor Scott Evans who become mayor after Levy's resignation. He won the special election for mayor on November 4, 2008 by a wide margin. He has announced he will run for a full term in the June 2009 primary election. If he wins he will then proceed to the general election in November.
