The Interpretation Act of New Brunswick states that parishes contain all municipalities within them, however, Statistics Canada separates all incorporated municipalities from their parishes, and local service districts only cover unincorporated areas. To clarify, Parishes no longer exist except simply as geographical expressions. Local Service Districts replaced them, and even though many of them (not all) do have the same boundaries and names as their predecessor Parish, they are not the same thing and the Parish concept is completely defunct.
