. Kutcher actually quit the show at the end of season seven but remained on the series for five episodes during the eighth season. He appeared in the first four episodes to give closure to Kelso and he appeared again in the final episode titled "That '70s Finale". However, the season was universally panned by both critics and fans alike, resulting in low ratings which ultimately led to the show's ending.

Since the central character was written out of the series, the series no longer had a main protagonist or focal character. To make up for this, most of the storylines focused on Jackie, Hyde, Fez, and the Formans. Donna's role in the series was slightly reduced though her new relationship with Randy was a prominent factor of the season.
