Legio XI

Legio XI was levied by Julius Caesar
in 58 BC in Cisalpine Gaul. Their emblem was Neptune. The XI were disbanded in 45 BC, the year before Caesar's assassination, and settled by Caesar in the area of Bovianum Undecumanorum.
They were later reconstituted by Augustus as Legio XI Claudia Pia Fidelis.
