When Lý Chiêu Hoàng was unable to produce a male heir by the age of 19, Tr?n Th? Ð? orchestrated a scandalous wife-swap in 1237 between Tr?n C?nh and his elder brother Tr?n Li?u. Due to the swap, Lý Chiêu Hoàng was demoted from empress to princess. Despite the ensuing uproar, Tr?n Th? Ð? was eventually able to pacify the court, with Tr?n Li?u narrowly avoiding execution as punishment for his reaction to the swap.
