Kråkstad has its own football club. Having been relegated from 6th to 7th division in 2004, Kråkstad this year faces another relegation into the Norwegian 8th division. This is no big surprise as thei sold their only talent, Steffen Jensen to a slave caravan. This was a big media flash in 2004.

The name

The municipality (originally the parish) was named after the old farm Kråkstad (Norse

 Krákustaðir), since the first church was built there. The first element is probably an old rivername (*Kráka), the last element is staðir 'homestead, farm'. The meaning of the (hypothetical) rivername is 'crow-river' (the river sounding like a crow'?).

Until 1921 the name was written Kraakstad.
