Kiran Khan. Kiran Khan is an Olympian Swimmer and national record-holder from Pakistan, and is one of the first international female swimmers for the country. She started her career in 2001. Kiran Khan first came to national attention at the 28th Pakistan National Games in 2001. She was the youngest swimmer at those games, and went on to win 7 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals. The performance garnted her the title "Golden Girl". She is well known for her styles and smoothness in all four strokes. A powerful Back stroker and Individual medley swimmer. She was the first ever female swimmer to grab a gold medal in 3rd and 4th World Islamic Games and 1st South Asian Swimming Championship 2007.
She was award the Fatima Jinnah Award 2007 by the Pakistan Government.

Early life

Kiran Khan was born to Khalid Zaman, Business man and former International Swimmer Of Pakistan, and his wife Dr.Shagufta Khalid,Lahore Pakistan. She was brought up in Lahore in a religious family. Kiran began Swimming at the age of three, turning professional in 2001. She was trained by her father. She attended Lahore Grammar School and currently is in St. Mary College.

Career

Kiran Khan first came to national attention at the 28th Pakistan National Games in 2001. She was the youngest swimmer at those games, and went on to win 7 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals. The performance garnered her the title "Golden Girl". Winning every single Event.
Pakistan's top professional swimmer she was ranked highest in 2001 as the best sports girl. She was the first female swimmer to grab the most medals in 3rd World Islamic Game, Tehran Iran. where she garbed as many as 13 medals for Pakistan, 2 golds 6 silver 5 bronze.
In 2002 Kiran represented Pakistan in 17th Common wealth games in Manchester, where kiran was the youngest player in the Games and soon after her event 50m backstroke heat which Kiran won, she was titled water baby by the Queen and the British Media.

2003

Kiran represented In 14th Asian Games held in (Korea Busan)Qualified for the 100m freestyle final
Was the only Pakistani swimmer to reach to the finals.
  • 10th World Fina Swimming Championship held in Spain (Barcelona 2003)Broke one national record of 200m Individual medley
  • 1st Afro Asian Games held in India (Hyderabad 2003) Broke 1 national record. Each time she jumped in the pool there was either a medal or a record for Pakistan her performance never let Pakistan down.

2004

In 2004 kiran represented Pakistan in the 9th South Asian Games held In Islamabad Pakistan. where kiran garbed 8 medals 6 silver 2 bronze for Pakistan.
29th National Games held in Islamabad (2004)Won 12 golds 3 New National records And declared the best player of new millennium.

2005

  • 11th World Fina Swimming Championship held in (Canada Montreal) Broke 2 National records of Pakistan.
  • 4th World Islamic Games held in Iran (Tehran 2005)Won 3 golds 4 silver 2 bronze and made 5 New National records.‘A total of 18 medals were won by the Pakistan contingent in 18 Disciplines Out of these 18 medals 9 medal belong to kiran khan.
  • 5th National Senior Swimming Championship held in Karachi, where kiran Won Won 8 golds, 2 silvers, 1 bronze.
  • 6th National Senior Swimming Championship held in Lahore (2005) Won 12 golds and 1 silver,Declared the Best Swimmer of the Swimming meet.

2006

  • 18th Common Wealth Games held in Australia (Melbourne 2006)Broke 2 National records and in both events was ranked in top 20 players.
  • 10th SAF Games held in Srilanka (Colombo 2006)Won 3 silver and 5 bronze Broke 4 National records and also broke the
  • SAF record in 100m Back stroke.
  • 15th Asian Games held in Qatar (Doha 2006)Broke 1 National record.
  • 30th National Games held in Karachi (2006)Won 13 golds And declared the Best Player of the Games.

2007

  • 12th World Fina Swimming Championship held in Australia (Melbourne 2007) Came 1st the 50m butterfly heat.
  • 1st South Asian Swimming Championship held in Pakistan (Islamabad 2007) Won 1 gold 3 silvers and 4 bronze. Won the gold in the 50m butterfly and created a history in Pakistan's Women swimming. It was the only gold for Pakistan in this meet for both Men and Women.
  • 8th National Senior Swimming Championship held in Karachi (2007) Won 13 golds and made 3 new records. Kiran calls 2007 as her lucky year as kiran accomplished her dream in 1 south Asian swimming Championship.

2008

  • 8th World Fina Short-course Swimming Championship held in England (Manchester 2008) Broke 1 National record.
  • 29th Olympic Games held in China (Beijing 2008)Improved the time by 30.95 to 29.84. And ranked 45th out of 198.
  • 9th National Senior Swimming Championship held in Islamabad (2008) Won 15 golds out of 19 events Declared the Best Swimmer of the Championship.

2010

  • 11th SAG held in Bangladesh 2010 Won 2 silver and 2 bronze.
  • 10th National Senior Swimming Championship held in Islamabad Won 13 golds medals.
  • 31st National Games held in Peshawar (2010). Won 15 golds And declared the Best Player of the Games.
