Sumon O' Aurthohin

Saidus Salehin Khaled played bass for a few bands before starting his solo career. These include local pioneers Warfaze and Feelings. In 1993 Sumon quit 'Feelings' and started to work on his first solo project 'Sumon O' Aurthohin' meaning 'Sumon and the meaningless'.

First line-up:
  • Sumon: Vocal, Bass and Guitar
  • Titi (Faith): Drums
  • Sentu (Faith): Bass
  • Zubair: Flute
  • Adnan: Percussion
  • Tonmoy: Guitar

On the title track 'Aurthohin' collaborated with eight heavy metal guitarists of the country and included twenty eight guitar/bass solos.Though work on the album was done long time ago, it was finally released in Eid of 1997. People liked the album which also got positive review from the critics. Sumon was planning to form a band so Titi (drums) & Sentu (bass) of 'Faith' along with came along to help him. Soon with some other musicians Sumon started performing under the name Sumon O' Aurthohin, same as the album.

Titi and Sentu had to leave the band in October'97 as they had to make time for their own band Faith. Rumie the drummer left his band 'The Trap' and filled in. Sumon changed the name of the band to simply 'Aurthohin'. Zubair and Adnan left the band few months later. Until now, the band's sound was more unplugged. To bring more variety to the sound, Shovon came in as a guitarist and vocalist.

Aurthohin

After playing for a year in 'Maqsood O Dhaka', Piklu left the band and joined Aurthohin in 2000. Aurthohin started the recording of their debut album in April. Shovon took a break from the band for educational purposes. Tonmoy also left the band. Ponir, who used to be the guitarist of 'The Gnomes' of Niloy Das, joined Aurthohin briefly but soon left the band and Rassel, the vocalist/guitarist of 'Winning' joined the band in 2000, Aurthohin's debut album 'Trimatrik' had been released. Album was a big hit. Sumon's name got enlisted in the Warwick's 'Famous Users' List'. He was the first Asian musician who got into that list. Rumie and Rassel left the band. Shuvo, the ex-drummer of Jolly Roger, Phycho Death and Death Row joined the band end of 2001. Aurthohin started the work of their 2nd album on the 17th of November and released it on the 10th of December 2000 under the label of G-Series. Apu, the keyboardist of 'Triloy', started playing with the band as a guest member. 2nd album 'Biborton' was released in 2001! One of the best selling band albums of the country. In 2003 Aurthohin released their 3rd album 'Notun Diner michhile'. It contains a 28 min long progressive rock song called 'Shaat Din'... first time ever in Bangladesh rock history! 'Dhrubok'... 4th album of the band got released in 2004.

Illness and recovery

Shortly after Aurthohin's 4th album 'Dhrubok' got released Sumon's health deteriorated. Due to Sumon’s illness the band stopped almost all the gigs. At the end of 2004 long time guitarist Piklu left the band. Sumon got the affiliation from MTD (Michael Tobias Design). In 2005 Sumon's jaw got dislocated.Doctors told him to give up singing permanently. Chances of recovery were very low. Aurthohin stopped all their activities, Sumon and the others were planning to disband. But suddenly things began to change as Sumon was getting well. Doctors considered it as a miracle[1]. Aurthohin performed with the same line up until 2006. Kamal of Warfaze joined as a guest guitarist. After doing a few gigs Sumon offered him a permanent place which he accepted. Soon after the band started working on and releasing their fifth album Aushamapto-1
