Overview

The department's headquarters and training academy are located in Frankfort. Recruits undergo a 22 week, paramilitary-style training program. After graduation, probationary troopers must complete field training under the supervision of a training trooper. Rather than trooper basic training in Frankfort, sworn Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officers undergo an 18 week basic training program at the Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training Center at Eastern Kentucky University
