Foundation and Early History

In the year 1938, Azmi Tılabar, the head manager of Turkish iron-steel industry, founded D.Ç. Gençlik Kulübü (D.Ç. Youth Club) with grey-blue colours and put the first step into sports regarding the city. After 1938, sports branches have been trained by notable sportspersons of Turkey.  after finishing as champions of Promotion Play-Off in 1996–97 season. Karabükspor lived the best season in 1997–98 and finished 8th. However, next season was disastrous for them and relegated at last place with just 5 wins to Second League.

Karabükspor finished below fist two place at Fourth Classification Group of Second League in 2000–2001 and relocated in Second League B Category

The team has promoted to TFF First Division (Bank Asya 1. Lig) after a 7–0 win against Erzurumspor

On their 30th game of the 2009–10 season, they won 3–0 against Çaykur Rizespor which meant they were promoted to the Turkish Super League after 11 years.

The club are sponsored by the Kardemir company and the Iron workers unions from whom they draw a lot of their support. Their ultra group is called ‘Mavi Ateş’ (Blue Flame) and their motto is, ‘Dumanlı kentin puslu çocukları’ (Sons of the smoky city).
