KTTV began operations on January 1, 1949, and was operated initially by KTTV, Incorporated, jointly owned by the Times-Mirror Company, publishers of the

KTTV is currently the only station in Los Angeles to have a 10 a.m. newscast. On December 8, 2008, the station also added a noon newscast, also anchored by McEwing, Martirez, Breckenridge, and Maria Quiban.
