"I'm a dancer first and a documentarian second," Salles confesses. He calls himself "an inherently trusting soul." Having completed Santiago, João is moving on to an as-yet incipient project: a documentary on the social and cultural history of the apple, which he calls "the most sublime fruit conceived by Nature."
