Joshua Lee "Josh" Berresford (born July 11, 1978) is an American actor, model, and spokesperson. Television Network original series, Dante’s Cove.

Early Life

Josh was born and raised in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, a small town situated along the Beaver River, about thirty miles northwest of Pittsburgh. His strongest childhood memories include caring for a wide variety of family pets and spending time bicycling with his older brother, Jason. Josh and his brother are the only children of his parents, Robert Lee and Rebecca Susan.

During his years at Blackhawk High School, Berresford served as Vice President of his sophomore and junior class and as Treasurer of the National Honor Society. Known as the best pitcher in the Pony League, his love of baseball was shared with his enthusiasm for playing golf and tennis. During his last year of high school Berresford found the time to perform in both of his senior plays, his first—and lingering—taste of acting.

Berresford attended Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh and graduated with a B.S.B.A. in Communication Management, focusing on Television Production. Discovering that a career in business was not for him, he decided to pursue an acting career. After taking summer conservatory classes at Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Josh auditioned for—and won—his first community theatre role in a play entitled Big Bucks.

Josh continued to hone his craft. After his move to New York in 2003, he continued his studies at Caymichael Patten Studios and Sande Shurlin Studios. Under the tutelage of Nino Murano and Kathryn Gately, Berresford studied the Sanford Meisner technique. In addition, Josh perfected his improv skills with the Upright Citizens Brigade.

Career

Upon his move to Pittsburgh from Beaver Falls, Josh was featured in varied and numerous theatrical productions. These included, Psycho Beach Party, Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?, Torch Song Trilogy, The White Rose, How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, A Bad Year for Tomatoes, The Man in the Dog Suit, and Seven Brides for Seven Brother.

Josh attended the International Modeling & Talent Association (IMTA) in New York City where he was nominated for actor of the year. This competition prompted his move to New York, where, in 2004, he made his New York debut with the LMNO Theatre, performing in Forbidden Fruit. Broadway.com said of his performance, “Josh Berresford…offers a beautiful, heartfelt and funny performance. Of all the male actors, he most smoothly negotiates between the piece’s sense of pathos and seriousness alongside the show’s outrageous hilarity.” Additional Off-off Broadway productions included Test Tube World, Glass Highways, The Heat in Alphabet City, Last Day, The Wedding Reception, The Grand Guignols, Café Playa Moon, and Edenville. Off-Broadway, Josh performed in Birdy's Bachelorette Party, and in 2008, Josh made his debut appearance for the New York City Fringe Theater Festival in the production Pieces on the Board by Tim O'Leary. Josh has appeared in various print ad campaigns and recorded numerous voiceovers.

Josh’s success in the theatre opened new opportunities in film. He had leading and supporting roles in independent movies such as Missing Jane, Pieces of Johnny, Take Out and Unrestful. In 2008 Josh portrayed “Deninin”, a man neglected by his mother in his childhood and now seeking to find himself, in The Way I See Things, a film written and directed by published fiction writer, Brian Pera. In addition, Josh won a featured role in the 2009 indie horror flick, Aversion
