). In journalism she worked as a columnist on economic issues in the newspaper Novedades, El Financiero and El Economista. She has also been a consultant for business organizations like the Confederación de Cámaras Nacionales de Comercio, Servicios y Turismo (Concanaco) and the Confederación Patronal de la República Méxicana (Coparmex).

Political Career

In the Asociación Coordinadora Ciudadana she was head of the Secretaría de la Mujer (Secretariat of Women). She was candidate by the Partido Acción Nacional (PAN)and elected to the Federal Congress in the LVIII Legislature via plurinominal. She served there as Deputy Coordinator of the Economic Policy Comission. She resigned Congress when appointed to President Vicente Fox's cabinet, as Secretary of Social Development. She remained in that position until January 6, 2006, when she resigned to join the campaign of then-candidate of the PAN Felipe Calderon to the presidency. After being declared President-elect Felipe Calderon Hinojosa, Josefina Vazquez Mota joined his transition team as the Political Liaison Coordinator.

On November 24, 2006, President Felipe Calderon Hinojosa announced her appointment as Secretary of Public Education, a position she held from December 1, 2006. Remained in office until April 4, 2009 when she resigned to be candidate of the PAN to the House of Representatives being replaced by Alonso Lujambio, the new Secretary of Education.

On July 5, she was elected federal congressperson to the LXI Legislature of Mexico in addition to being appointed Coordinator of the Parliamentary Group of the Partido Acción Nacional in the House of Representatives. On September 2010, she was elected President of the Board Policy coordination of the Chamber of Deputies.

On August 31, ended her term as head of the Political Coordination Board and requested permission on September 6 as Coordinator of the Parliamentary Group of the PAN as Federal Representative to pursue her aspirations for her party's candidate for President of the Republic 2012.

Josefina Vazquez Mota has commented to the communication media and a large and highly representative group of PAN, her intention to seek the nomination for the Presidency of the Republic, for the National Action Party in the 2012 presidential elections.
