History

The Haileys meet the DeGrates

Both from a Pentecostal background, the Haileys and DeGrates originally performed and recorded, and eventually met each other through their girlfriends. However, it turned out that Dalvin DeGrate was dating K-Ci Hailey's girlfriend. This led to a small confrontation between the two in which K-Ci allegedlly pulled out a gun on Dalvin, according to DeVante Swing in an interview. The Hailey brothers and DeVante eventually became friends and discussed possibly recording songs together.

, Jodeci spoke of a comeback album, as well as a look into the past and future of the band, but to this day it has not been released.

Jodeci appears on Maddi Madd's single "Holla Back" as well as on a song titled "I Put It Down". "Holla Back" is produced by DeVante Swing. The album from Maddi Madd, titled "The Midwest Juggernaut" is expected to be released sometime in 2008. Several tracks from this album is expected to contain material from Jodeci as well as production from DeVante Swing. A music-video for "Holla Back" has been made and circulates on Youtube.

In April 2002 Devante co-wrote the song "Lay It Down" for multi-platinum rock band Aerosmith. He also received a publishing credit as well, under the name "De Swing".

In August 2008 a reunion was organized but KCI and JoJo were the only members of the group in appearance (Devante and Dalvin didn't show). In fact, the performance was interrupted when JoJo fell unconscious during the performance. Video of the event has shown everywhere and while there has been speculation no one can say that drugs were the cause. According to K-Ci in an interview, JoJo is an epileptic, causing him to faint.
