Nadeau competed in the 1994 Barber Dodge Pro Series and the 1996 Formula Opel Euroseries.
NASCAR career
1997-2001
He then returned to the United States to race in NASCAR's Winston Cup series in 1997. He initially struggled to qualify for races. By 1999 he had a solid ride with Hendrick Motorsports in a competitive car. He won the fall Atlanta Motor Speedway race in 2000.
Nadeau almost repeated the feat at Atlanta the following fall, but ran out of gas just before the finish. Bobby Labonte passed him and took the win.
2002
Nadeau struggled for consistency after that, and was released from Hendrick in 2002. Later that year at Infineon Raceway, Nadeau, driving the #44 car for Petty Enterprises, was leading the Dodge/Save Mart 350 late, but had car trouble and ended up losing the race to Ricky Rudd.
Richmond Crash and Retirement
Nadeau started the 2003 season as the driver of the MB2/MBV Motorsports #01 U.S. Army Pontiac, but on May 2 2003 Nadeau was practicing at Richmond International Raceway for the Pontiac Excitement 400 when Nadeau spun off turn one and hit the wall drivers side first at high speed. It ripped the door off the car, grinding the left side of Nadeau's body against the barrier. Nadeau suffered complete immobility of the left side of his body, a skull fracture, concussion, and several broken ribs. Nadeau has not raced since.
Life After NASCAR
Jerry Nadeau signed with the Clay Andrews Racing Busch Series team as a consultant for the David Gilliland car in 2006.
Nadeau said in a Speed Channel interview in May 2006 that he will "more than likely not race in a Cup car again."
Jerry will be racing in the Old School Racing Champion’s Tour in 2008 (OSRCT) is a new racing series debuting in 2008 that will have retired and semi-retired champion drivers competing in a 10 race regular season schedule followed by a “Last Chance Race” and a “Championship Race”.
