. While at school Jennifer worked on her school magazine as co-editor before studying for an Arts Degree at Melbourne University, where she majored in English Literature and Criminology. She worked for the student publication Farrago as well as working part time for The Southern Cross, and a Sunday metropolitan newspaper, The Sunday Observer. In her third year of University she applied for a role at Channel Ten and combined her work there with her studies.

from 1996 until 2006. Performing this role for more than ten years, Jennifer and Mal became the longest serving news duo in Australia's television history, maintaining strong ratings and winning widespread support among viewers. With Network Ten then broadcasting the Melbourne Cup Carnival, Jennifer also took o the role of hosting the 'Fashions on the Field' event at Flemington.

In 2002, Jennifer also took over the writing of a column for the Sunday Herald Sun - 'Tales of a Modern Woman' for seven months.

Jennifer returned to the media industry during the 2008 Olympics, reading news for the ABC's Australia Network. The news service is televised to 43 countries overseas. Jennifer then continued a news-reading role with the ABC throughout 2009.

In 2010, Jennifer began writing a weekly column for the Saturday Herald Sun, called 'The Other Half' This involved interviewing the partners of successful Australians. This year, the column has changed to 'Q & A with Jennifer Hansen' and involves interviews with high-profile Australians.

Jennifer has launched her own business, Uber Savvy - Ideas for Living. The main product is an item which fits inside boots to help them to stand upright and preserves their shape. The product is stocked by Myer stores across Australia.

While working at the ABC, Jennifer also returned to studies, taking up the Professional Writing and Editing course at RMIT, which she has since completed; graduating with a Diploma, During the course, Jennifer began work on her first novel which is now completed and in the final stages of review.

After leaving Ten, Jennifer also explored her interest in an acting carer. This interest began in high school and led to her performing in various amateur productions in her late teens. In addition, Jennifer has featured in a news presenter role in various drama series over the years. (Prisoner, Neighbours, the movie Boytown) In 2006, she played the lead role in a stage play 'Chasing Pegasus' which was part of the Fringe Festival. Jennifer also played a cameo role in the horror movie 'Prey'.
