Jai and Axel's friendship
In June 2008, Jai began hanging around more and more with local outcast Axel Hay, who had been ostracized from the community for attempting to rape Melody Jones. One of the first acts of mischievousness the duo got into was crashing the school computers after loading a doctored picture of school principal Martin Bartlett. During a school camp, Axel and Jai played a practical joke where Jai pretended to have been attacked by Axel who was dressed as Mummy.
Axel's dead
Things came to an end on 11 July, when Axel and Jai took Eric Dalby's scooter without permission and ended up in a head-on collision with Larry Jefferies who had been drinking while driving, Jai was unhurt but Axel was badly injured and later died in hospital.
Following Axel's death, Jai began going a period of thinking he was invincible. Annie Campbell witnessed him jump off a high rock and decided to help him. After a while they got together. However, Miles separated them and they weren't allowed to talk to each other, because neither Annie or Jai will tell Miles or Irene what really happened when Annie hurt her leg.
He has been injured by bullies who constantly harass him in school.
Revenge on Matthew Lyons
When Ruby Buckton discovered that Matthew Lyons had been impersonating an online friend, she asked Jai and Annie to help her get her own back on him. She invited Matthew down to the beach, pretending to have forgiven him, and told him she wanted to skinny dip with him. Unbeknownst to Matthew, Jai and Annie were hiding up in the hills, with a video camera. Ruby told Matthew to strip first, and while running in the sea naked, Ruby picked up his clothes and fled. Jai went home and uploaded the footage to the internet, humiliating Matthew in front of the whole school.

Jai and Annie were in a car with Kane looking for Melody. Melody (who was high) ran out from the school formal and Kane had to swerve to miss her.
