Early life and education

Jahar born in the Steel City of Jamshedpur. His father late Mr. Narendranath Dasgupta was the director of CFRI. In the infant stage he used to draw trees and animals on the floor with pieces of Conté

The home of Jahar was actually near a river. The other side of the river was a Tribal village. Many from the village would come to work in the Tata Steel

 factories. After sunset, the fire and smoke from the chimneys, the turbulent river and the little village on the other side of the river are visually etched in his memory since childhood.
