Professional career

His professional career never materialized after he incurred further injury to previously damaged cartilage during a preseason game. The injury forced him to undergo season-ending microfracture surgery on his right knee prior to the start of the 2005 season. On March 17, 2006,after an additional surgery to the same knee and arthroscopic surgery on both shoulders, the Cowboys released Rogers and at the time, he was the highest drafted player to be released from the 2004 NFL Draft
