Jack & Jill is an American television comedy-drama starring Ivan Sergei, Amanda Peet, Jaime Pressly, Justin Kirk, Simon Rex and Sarah Paulson which ran from September 1999 to April 2001 on the WB Network.
The show's theme song was "Truth About Romeo", written by "Pancho's Lament". It was performed by Pancho's Lament during the first season and by David Crosby in the second season.
Plot The main characters were David Jillefsky (Ivan Sergei), known as Jill to his friends, and Jacqueline Barrett (Amanda Peet, replacing Amelia Heinle after the pilot), known as Jack. The two become romantically involved just as they both face major obstacles in their relationships with their significant others.
Due to the average ratings of the first season, the second season was only 13 episodes long and was aired as a midseason show. The final episode detailed the problems in the leadup to the couple's wedding. Jack discovered she was pregnant, but then - before she could tell Jill - he decided that their relationship was moving too fast and he wanted to call the wedding off and move things slower. The series was not renewed for a third season, prompting annoyed executive producer Randi Mayem Singer, to write synopses of how they would have continued the series and post them online.
In spite of the series' mediocre ratings, it was nominated for a best casting award in 2000 by the Casting Society of America for Best Casting for TV, Dramatic Pilot.
Co-stars Amanda Peet and Sarah Paulson would later reunite for the NBC series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which debuted in 2006.
