. Dishwalla had a #1 hit in 1996 with the Richards-penned "Counting Blue Cars," famous for its "tell me all your thoughts on God/'cause I'd really like to meet Her" refrain. His band has gone on to produce four other albums, including the 2002 hit, Opaline. He has one child with his wife, Shannon.

His debut solo album "A Beautiful End" was released on May 12, 2009, on iTunes worldwide. Starting on May 26, 2009 "A Beautiful End" will be available for purchase and download worldwide through all other digital music services (Rhapsody, Napster, Amazon, AOL and more).

J.R. Richards is creating music under the name theGloriouslove, in partnership with Jason Koiter and Trace Ritter. Starting May 4, 2010, "A Dark Safe Place", the first song from this project, will be available through digital download.

J.R. Richards is also creating music under the name Califas with Ryan Rossi. Starting May 18, 2010, “A Beautiful Game,” a 2010 World Cup theme song will be available through digital download.

There is another collaboration with Michael Carey and David Walsh from the band Exies. Starting June 1, 2010, three songs will be released, “Monday Came", "Sunlight" and "Sugarville".

In January 2011, J.R Richards created the 20k Watts project. 20k Watts is an Artist Eco Alliance which aims to bring sustainable clean energy to 3rd world communities in need. To empower communities in impoverished areas using the sun, wind, and battery for storing and supplying electricity and enhancing the current and future quality of life.

J.R Richards, and band mate, Ryan Rossi are currently writing songs for an EP that will theme “Music Can Help” and should have a new CD released by late Fall 2011.
