from 1997 to 2001. He was one of the few characters to continue into the Baywatch Hawaii

Darius became involved in a romantic relationship with Caroline Holden
(Yasmine Bleeth
), Jessie (Brooke Burns
) and finally Kekoa Tanaka
.
A failed pier rescue resulted in the victim getting crushed, causing him to bleed internally. The victim died in J.D.'s arms. He blamed himself for the death, suffering 'Post Traumatic Stress Disorder' and needing time off to deal with it.
He was no stranger to the team, as he knew Mitch (David Hasselhoff) since he was 18 years old as a Rookie and knew Cody (David Chokachi) and Newman (Michael Newman) from various Lifeguard competitions. He moved into the apartment that was once shared by C.J. (Pamela Anderson), Caroline (Yasmine Bleeth) and Cody.
J.D. was in competition for the vacant position with Taylor Walsh
(Angelica Bridges), in which Mitch considered Taylor as the better candidate because of J.D.'s recurring problems to deal with the pier incident.
