Indian Institute of Technology Muddenahalli, also known as IIT Muddenahalli, is an autonomous engineering and technology-oriented institute of higher education that has been approved by the Government of India with construction set to be completed in 2012. The 200 acre (0.809372 km²) campus is nestled between Muddenahalli
and Kanivenarayanapura
in the Nandi Hills region at the outskirts of Devanahalli
in North Bangalore. This is the first IIT
to be approved for Karnataka
and the third IIT in South India.

, birthplace of legendary Engineer and Statesman Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya. The Indian Institute of Technology Muddenahalli is to be the 16th IIT in India and has received preliminary approval from the cabinet and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
. Construction is set to be commenced soon and will be completed around 2012.
The institute campus will be spread over 200 acre (0.809372 km²) of prime commercial land near the recently approved 12000 acres (48.6 km²) BIAL IT Investment Region. It will be situated overlooking the recently expanded 8 lane NH7, the upcoming 600 crore Sri Visvesvaraya Institute of Advanced Technology
, 70 crore Silk City, 2500 acres (10.1 km²) Olympic Quality Sports village, and the Sri Sathya Sai University and School of Medicine.
The following programs are set to be offered once the University opens:
Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. Diploma, Masters level graduate programs, PhD degrees, and post graduate research degrees will also be offered.
The competitive admission to these programmed is through the JEE and students are admitted after completing 10+2 schooling.
