IPC, the Association Connecting Electronics Industries (formerly known as the Institute for Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits), is an organization whose aim is to standardize the assembly and production requirements of electronic equipment and assemblies.
IPC was founded in 1957 as the Institute for Printed Circuits. Its name was changed to the Institute for Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits to highlight the expansion from bare boards to packaging and electronic assemblies. In 1999, the organization formally changed its name to "IPC" with the accompanying tagline, Association Connecting Electronics Industries.
IPC is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) as a standards developing organization and is known globally for its standards. It publishes the most widely used acceptability standards in the electronics industry.
The organization currently has a wholly owned foreign enterprise with offices in Shanghai and Shenzhen China called IPC Technology Consulting (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. It also has a representative in Stockholm, Sweden and a joint venture training company called Industry Association Training Center located in Bangalore India.
Mission Statement of the IPC IPC is a global trade association dedicated to furthering the competitive excellence and financial success of its members, who are participants in the electronics industry.
In pursuit of these objectives, IPC will devote resources to management improvement and technology enhancement programs, the creation of relevant standards, protection of the environment, and pertinent government relations.
IPC encourages the active participation of all its members in these activities and commits to full cooperation with all related organizations.

Promotion of the Electronics Industry Through Trade Shows and Conferences All year round and around the world, the IPC organizes training classes, expositions and conferences. Some of the more significant shows coordinated by the IPC include:
APEX (United States)
APEX brings participants from more than 50 countries at what is considered the industry's premier event — a celebration of printed circuit board and electronics manufacturing and test technology. Attendeeds can find the technology they need, meet new suppliers, network with industry experts, input on vital industry standards, learn from new research papers and return to their company with the solutions they need.
IPC Designers Summit (United States)
The IPC Designers Summit offers a focused circuitry design program as well as access to other critical parts of the supply chain. Attendees network with other designers, learn at the Designers Day program and then hit the show floor to evaluate suppliers.
IPC China Electronics Manufacturing Annual Conference (China)
Each year the Asian version of APEX takes place and welcomes participants from around the world to find the latest technologies, network with potential suppliers, learn the latest standards, and view the newest equipment available.
Criticism of the IPC IPC has come under criticism for not involving affected members enough in the development of new standards.
