 wrote and directed the program. The real now middle-aged Monkees make fun of plots of their own earlier TV series. Some of the music featured in the special came from the quartet's 1996 album Justus

; the group also performs a medley of 5 of their biggest 60s hits; "Last Train To Clarksville", "Daydream Believer", "(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone", "I'm A Believer" and "Pleasant Valley Sunday". These songs are shown as performances by the group in 1997, intercut with performances of these same songs from their 60s television series. The Monkees appear as themselves, so this is not an episode of their TV series. In Monkee Biz #81 (1997), Nesmith said this was his "version of a documentary about the Monkees and not a reunion episode at all" (page 15).
