, Stockholms län, Gillinger made his first film role playing a young and handsome beach boy in the Swedish highly popular comedy film "Sunes sommar" in 1994.
In 1993, he landed one of his most popular roles, playing the young, handsome and if somewhat lively character of Robert "Raspen" Thorstensson in the Swedish highly popular primetime television soap opera "Rederiet". Göran was only aged 19 when he was cast in the role. Göran left the role during the fourth season in 1994.
In 1995, he landed another popular role, playing the male lead as Adam in the Swedish movie "30 november aka "Cry". In 1996, he played Tobias in the Swedish sitcom "En fyra för tre", with Björn Gustafson and Birgitta Andersson

In 1999 he was accepted to The Royal Academy of Acting in Stockholm and graduated in June 2003 with a bachelor degree. 2001, he spent a semester at the Stella Adler School of Acting in Los Angeles. In 2005 he played one of the leads in the Swedish National Television series, "The Commission". In 2006 he performed Horace in Molière’s play "The School for Wives" at the National Theatre of Stockholm. He also does voice-over work for Disney and DreamWorks among others and he is an approved Disney Director for dubbing.

2007 He performed at The Capital Fringe Festival in Washington, DC, in a one-man play “A Swedish Tiger" at the Woolly Mammoth Theatre, the play and Goran got fantastic reviews in Washington Post and on the Internet.
2008 He was in Alexander Burns's production of "Hamlet" at Carter Barron in Washington DC.
2009 He made a huge success playing the neighbour in Ray Cooney's farce "Run for your Wife" at Mariebergskogen in Karlstad.
2010 He got cast opposite Tate Donovan in the movie "Below the Beltway" directed by Dave Fraunces, he also went back to Sweden and got cast as Erik the male lead in the novel movie "Att bli med barn" premiering at Gothenburg's film festival.
