Gérard Mestrallet was born on 1 April 1949. He graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique

In 1984, he started working for Suez. He has been its Chairman and CEO since 2001.

He was appointed as a member of the Hong Kong Chief Executive's Council of International Advisers
