The Village of Greenwood Lake is in the south part of the Town of Warwick.
The village was incorporated in 1924.
The premiere episode of "The Sopranos
" final season was filmed on location in the Village of Greenwood Lake and on the lake itself. The episode actually took place much further north in the Adirondack Mountains.
In July 2011 Rob Reiner
began shooting a movie in the Village of Greenwood Lake. The movie, "Summer at Dog Dave's" stars Morgan Freeman
, Virginia Madsen
and Kenan Thompson
. The movie was shot in existing homes on the lake. Most of cast and crew rented homes in the village and stayed there during the shooting.

was 1,668.0 people per square mile (645.6/km2). There were 1,534 housing units at an average density of 750.1 per square mile (290.3/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 95.57% White, 0.76% African American, 0.26% Native American, 0.85% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 0.82% from other races
, and 1.70% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.04% of the population.
There were 1,332 households out of which 34.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.7% were married couples
living together, 11.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 34.1% were non-families. 26.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.18.
In the village the population was spread out with 26.6% under the age of 18, 6.0% from 18 to 24, 34.2% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 101.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.1 males.
