 (NBA) has accredited three branches of the college - the Mechanical, Civil and Electronics and Telecommunications branches of the college. This means the academic curriculum and the teaching learning process is of a good standard, with adequate infrastructure and faculty, acceptable to the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

The college has a Nature Club which organises tree planting programmes in the Farmagudi campus and organises treks to locations in Goa. Some of the treks have been to DudhSagar, Keri, Mainapi Falls, and Tamdi Surla Falls.

Student associations, based on their streams, are as follows:

  • MESA - Mechanical Engineering Students Association,
  • ACES - Association of Civil Engineering Students,
  • CURSOR - Association of Computer Engineering Students,
  • INTENSA -Information Technology Students Association and
  • ASSETS - Association of Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering Students.


These associations conduct events, technical and non-technical, once or twice per semester

Library facility

The college has one of the largest libraries in the state, and is home to books, journals, and magazines, catering to all the subjects taught in the college. The Library has a Multimedia section which houses electronic modes of information such as encyclopedias.

The library has a book bank facility with which students can obtain books for the entire year and return after the completion of the year, by paying a small fee.

Life on the campus

The college campus is the biggest campus in Goa. The college has four boys' hostels and one girls' hostel. The campus has staff housing, and guest house facilities for visiting faculty and students.

Besides the main canteen and multiple mess facilities, the college has small shacks and restaurants that are frequented by students. The campus shopping complex has a restaurant, as well as shops that cater to student needs ranging from photocopying to stationery and other day-to-day needs.

The campus has a Post Office and a Computer Center.

The GEC Gymkhana houses a Power Gym, which is accessible to students on an almost full day basis. There is an indoor badminton

Happenings

Happenings is an All-Goa Youth Fest organized by the college. The festival was started in 1981. It is officially the oldest college festival in Goa.

The college hosts the rock show Zero, Millennium in 1997, Parikrama in 1998, Pentagram in 1996 and 1999, Ezee Meat in 1997, Brahma in 2000, PDV, Moksha, Metakix, Psychomotor, Sceptre in 2004. Rock machine, lately known as Indus Creed, was the first band ever that played in GEC.

In 2008, Goa witnessed the biggest youth festival in Goa so far, at Farmagudi. 35 events were conducted over three days in February. The biggest attraction was the Pronite on 22 February featuring Jal the Band from Pakistan and Rock show on 23 February featuring Decibel from Delhi and Fahrenheit.

2009 saw two other big names performing for the rock show, "Bhayanak Maut

Intake

The college has an annual intake of almost 320 students. This was increased from 150 in 2001.
