 by Russian director Tolomush Okeyev but after several weeks of shooting and a lot of money spent in project development, preparation and pre-production the film was stopped since it became clear that was not suitable for an international audience.

The project was restored and given to British Director Peter Duffel (Director of a similar epic film handling many actors and extras, The Far Pavilions), with a new script which began the story by covering Khan's childhood. After some shootings under Duffel, Ken Annakin

 took over as director. Unfortunately, because of the August Coup, actors were ordered by their Embassies to return home immediately. As a result, work on the movie ended abruptly.
