Plot

Tsurugi (劒冑) - a set of armour crafted by special smiths who infuse their souls into them at their completion. Any man or woman who wields a Tsurugi is known as a Musha, and will gain the powers to fly the sky and slice through metal.

The Far-Eastern nation of Yamato is governed by the Rokuhara Shogunate, under the inspection of the GHQ (mirroring the post-Second World War Japan to a certain extent). The Rokuhara Shogunate obtained its powers and positions by betraying Yamato and surrendering to the Allied Forces (from which the GHQ branches out). While there are many who abhors and detests the Rokuhara Shogunate, the Shogunate responds to any political unease with military oppression.

Yet, there was one threat that even the Rokuhara Shogunate could not oppress.

For two years, people of Yamato have heard of massacres taking place in villages, towns and military bases. There are no survivors, civilians or soldiers, children or Musha, for all that is left on the site are grotesquely destroyed bodies. From some witness evidences, the people call the culprit the Ginseigou, a mysterious Musha who clads itself in a silver Tsurugi

Unknown to the public, a Musha named Kageaki Minato is on the case as an unofficial police officer. While investigating the tracks of Ginseigou, Kageaki Minato encounters and defeats corrupt governors and mass-murderers. However, he will never call himself as a hero, or a man of justice. Meet a daemon, slay the daemon. Meet a Buddha, slay the Buddha - the words he chants as he dons his Tsurugi mirrors his past and the future to come.

He murders - not just the evil, the corrupt, the oppressors, but also the innocent, the helpless and the oppressed.

For his crimson Tsurugi is Seishuusengou Uemon-no-jou Muramasa, which bears the same name as the cursed armor that once brought hell upon the land of Yamato.

This is not a tale of a hero. He who aims to be a hero has no place here

Main Characters

Kageaki Minato

"Meet a daemon, slay the daemon. Meet a Buddha, slay the Buddha."

A young man who chases after Ginseigou under the support of the Emperor. While active he will call himself an unofficial part-time police officer, but while 'off-duty' he is detained in custody as a parent-murderer.

Despite his dark and miserable demeanor, Kageaki Minato is an earnest and big-hearted man, albeit with a slight tendency of missing the point (at times to an amazing degree). He wields the cursed Tsurugi known as Muramasa under the oath of 'Equal Deaths to Good and Evil', and stains his hands inadvertently with the blood of the innocent.

He uses Muramasa because she is the only Tsurugi that can withstand Ginseigou. After he resolves the Ginseigou Massacre, Kageaki Minato's wish is to be executed for all the murders he has committed.

Muramasa

"Roger. Begin the End. Execute Death. Express Void."

Seishuusengou Uemon-no-jou Muramasa III. Female. One of the two Tsurugi that were left with the Minato family. After an incident, Muramasa contracted temporarily with Kageaki and serves as his partner in order to defeat Ginseigou.

While making her heart sound as cold as her metal body, she deeply cares and supports Kageaki, who is troubled and suffers from the sins that the curse makes him commit.

A powerful Tsurugi, Muramasa has the power to manipulate electromagnetism. During the North-South Dynasty Age, the countless massacres caused by her two ancestors' Tsurugi had deemed her line of Tsurugis as cursed. Though Muramasa I was lost in the war, Muramasa II was to be ordered to be scrapped. In order to save her mother Muramasa begged for mercy, and forged herself into a Tsurugi to be sealed away along with Muramasa II, so that should anything happen again in the future, she would be there to stop it.

Due to the fact that she became a Tsurugi while she was still a young girl, Muramasa still has mental imperfections as a Tsurugi.
