The term '''French West Indies''' or '''French Antilles''' ({{lang-fr|Antilles françaises}}) refers to the seven territories currently under French sovereignty in the [[Antilles]] islands of the [[Caribbean]]: the two overseas departments of [[Guadeloupe]] ([[Basse-Terre Island|Basse-Terre]] and [[Grande-Terre]]) and [[Martinique]], the two overseas collectivities of [[Collectivity of Saint Martin|Saint Martin]] and [[Saint Barthélemy]], plus islands, of [[Les Saintes]], [[Marie-Galante]] and [[La Désirade]], [[Dependence of Guadeloupe|dependences]] of Guadeloupe for the moment.

In addition, some of the islands of the present and former [[British West Indies]] were once ruled by France. On some of them, a [[Antillean Creole|French-based creole]] language is spoken.
