Frederick was born in Meisenheim

. After his father's death in 1569, Frederick and his brothers partitioned his territories: Frederick received a chip of territory of the Duchy of Neuburg around Vohenstrauss. Frederick died in Castle Frierichsburg in 1597 and was buried in Lauingen.
