W.R. "Raz" Ware (December 12, 1927—October 12, 2008) was a former rodeo performer and farmer/rancher who lived his entire life in Floyd County. A powerful roper during the 1950s and 1960s, Ware was member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. His son, Clinton W. Ware, and grandsons, Cody and Clay Ware of Floydada, followed him in rodeo activities. Ware was also a member of the National Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock. Ware was also an original pianist who composed songs and entertained at home and in public. Born to W.P. "Willie" Ware and the former Grace Beard, he attended school at Plainview in Hale County. On January 10, 1959, he married the former June Ross. Other survivors include his wife, Kay Ware; daughter, Lisa Ware Baldwin; two other grandsons, Ross and Zach Baldwin, and a sister, June Brown of Hart. Services were to be held at the First Baptist Church of Floydada.

Floydada is located at (33.983771, -101.337259).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.0 square miles (5.3 km˛), all of it land.
Demographics
As of the census of 2000, there were 3,676 people, 1,304 households, and 980 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,810.8 people per square mile (699.2/km˛). There were 1,507 housing units at an average density of 742.3/sq mi (286.6/km˛). The racial makeup of the city was 70.35% White, 4.13% African American, 1.09% Native American, 0.14% Asian, 22.20% from other races, and 2.09% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 51.63% of the population.
There were 1,304 households out of which 38.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.8% were married couples living together, 12.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% were non-families. 23.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.74 and the average family size was 3.24.
In the city the population was spread out with 31.6% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 23.6% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 91.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.6 males.
The median income for a household in the city was $25,429, and the median income for a family was $30,038. Males had a median income of $25,179 versus $17,381 for females. The per capita income for the city was $12,431. About 24.7% of families and 26.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 36.2% of those under age 18 and 19.7% of those age 65 or over.
Education
The City of Floydada is served by the Floydada Independent School District. Apple has teamed up with Floydada and has distributed laptop computers to the students and staff of Floydada's Jr. High and High School. Floydada is the only town in Texas to be an Apple distinguished school.
