It has an illustrious history, with seven Omani League championship titles (1976–77, 1978–79, 1983–84, 1985–88, 1990–91), the second-highest number in Omani history. The club's best years were in the 1970s and the 1980s, but the death of club owner HRH Sayyid Sami adversely affected the club, and for nearly the last 20 years, Fanja have failed to receive one trophy. Their last achievements were in 1991 when they had won the Omani League
