Essence Carson is an American basketball player from Paterson, New Jersey, who was the 7th draft pick in the 2008 WNBA draft. Carson played at Eastside High School in Paterson and played college basketball at Rutgers University.
Carson attended Paterson's Rosa L. Parks School of Fine and Performing Arts. She participated in athletics at Eastside, where she was an all-state in volleyball player and state champion in the 400 meters.
She is currently a member of the WNBA team the New York Liberty.

She is currently a member of the WNBA team the New York Liberty. She helped the Liberty win the first round series of the 2008 playoffs. But the Liberty just fell short of the finals in the eastern conference finals against Detroit.
She is one of the many rookies, including former Rutgers teammate Matee Ajavon, who quickly became a vital part for their teams.
She is now a member of the TTT/Riga team in Latvia. In her debut game with this team, Essence Carson put in 17 points and 6 rebounds.
