Florence Nightingale Graham (December 31, 1884 – October 18, 1966), who went by the business name
Elizabeth Arden, was a Canadian-American businesswoman who built a cosmetics empire in the United States. At the peak of her career, she was one of the wealthiest women in the world.

Arden was born in 1884 at

Arden died in New York City in 1966 and was interred in the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery in Sleepy Hollow, New York under the name Elizabeth N. Graham.
Towards the end of her life, Arden would not accept her mortality and prepare the company for her passing. She refused advice to set up a trust fund even when she was approaching the age of 80. As a result, her company and private estate was heavily taxed after her death, reducing it to a mere US$40 million at a time when she'd regularly spend US$10 million on her horses every year. She had over a hundred salons worldwide but the company had to close down many of them to pay taxes. Her stable was sold and her family had to auction off many of her personal assets to pay for death duties as well.[2] A feature-length documentary film
