History

Dürrenroth is first mentioned in 1275 as Rota. In 1326 it was mentioned as Durren Rot.

Geography

Dürrenroth has an area, , of 14.12 km² (5.5 sq mi). Of this area, 9.96 km² (3.8 sq mi) or 70.5% is used for agricultural purposes, while 3.25 km² (1.3 sq mi) or 23.0% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.79 km² (0.305020705288103 sq mi) or 5.6% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.04 km² (9.9 acre) or 0.3% is either rivers or lakes.

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 3.4% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.9%. 20.8% of the total land area is heavily forested and 2.2% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 33.6% is used for growing crops and 34.9% is pastures, while 2.1% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is in rivers and streams.
