for more on this. The issue of the classifications of similar taxons will most likely not be resolved soon. However, Salvelinus alpinus taranetzi remains to be a valid subspecies.

Salvelinus alpinus taranetzi is rarely sea-run and most populations are found in lakes in the northern part of North America. The Dwarf Arctic char is steely grey with pale white spots, and parr marks often are found in adults.
