 and game designer Jeff Kinney. This book is divided into two sections: an activity section and a "Whats Your Story?" section. The hardcover version of the book features 16 pages of full-color comics in the middle of the book, between the two sections.

In 2011, the book has been extended with extra 60 pages and 16 more full-color comics, and was renamed "The Wimpy Kid Do-It-Yourself Book".

Activity section

About the first half of the book is filled up with activities like making your own comic strips, including sections for biographical data, hobbies and more. It also features several comic strips to finish, including Greg's "Creighton the Cretin" and "Li'l Cutie". Many characters are mentioned in the book, the main being Greg Heffley, his brother Rodrick, Rowley Jefferson, and Fregley.

The hardcover version of this book features 8 pages of comics created by Greg, Rowley, Fregley, and some girls from Greg's class, in between the activities and "What's Your Story" pages. The comic pages include Zoo-Wee-Mama!, Trevor, The Talking Sideburn, Gareth the Green Bean, Creighton the Comedian, Girls RULE!, Jerome, the man with INCREDIBLY RED LIPS (as stylized in the book), The Amazing Fart Police, Ugly Eugene, and Action Fighters (stylized as Action Fighterz). In the 2011 version, the comics Creighton the Dinosaur, Gareth Runs for Office, Joshie in: Double Trouble", "Gareth's Revenge, Precious Poochie, Office Antix & Oh, Grampsie! debuted.
