At club level Dessie has won numerous underage titles and back-to-back senior titles in 2005 and 2006 with club, Garrycastle.
He was regularly selected for the Irish International Rules team until the series was suspended in 2006.

He is a well-respected man in GAA circles both locally and nationally..
