. He got injured after Tmenov fell on his arm, and even though he finished the game, was not able to play any further in the olympics. Van der Geest had planned to stop his Judo career after the 2008 Summer Olympics to pursue a career in the music industry, however after the unexpected defeat, he was quoted to consider entering the World Championship in 2009.
